Title Physician Assistants for Latino Health Collection
Scope & Content Collection was originally stored in a 3-Ring Binder. It contains the documentation and publications of the Physician Assistants for Latino Health (PALH) Caucus, formerly known as the Physician Assistants of Latino Heritage Caucus.Collection contains meeting minutes, promotional flyers, newsletters, member directories, and other documentation.

The Physician Assistants of Latino Heritage (PALH) interest group was founded in 1994 by Robert S. Smith and Ron Garcia-Herrera. In 1996, the Physician Assistants of Latino Heritage filed to become a Caucus of the AAPA. PALH planned to actively address health care issues that impact the Latino/Hispanic community, provide diverse CME opportunities, and promote the PA profession among Latino/Hispanic groups. The PALH came together to come up with an official Spanish translation for "Physician Assistant" (asociado medico) in 1998. Around 2003, PALH changed its name from Physician Assistants of Latino Heritage to Physician Assistants for Latino Health.

The PALH held yearly Salsa Dances at the AAPA conferences to raise funds for a scholarship to sponsor a PA student to attend the AAPA annual conference. They also worked with Project Access to promote the PA profession among minority youth. The PALH also became involved in the legislative effort to have the government of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico recognize the PA profession.
