Richard "Rick" Rohrs graduated from the PA program at Essex Community College/John Hopkins School of Health Services in 1977. He was one of the first PAs in the state of Maryland and served as a Maryland delegate to AAPA for decades. He has authored and helped to pass numerous pieces of legislation on behalf of Maryland PAs. He served on the AAPA Board of Directors and also as one of the AAPA commissioners on the NCCPA Board of Directors. The collection contains materials that highlight aspects of Richard "Rick" Rohrs's career as a physician assistant. The collection has AAPA House of Delegates and Board of Directors materials, general correspondence, materials relevant to the spread of the physician assistant profession overseas to Canada and China, and early curriculum materials for the PA programs of John Hopkins/Essex Community College. Richard "Rick" Rohrs is a 1977 graduate from the PA Health Assistant Program at Essex Community College/Johns Hopkins School of Health Services. He was one of the first PAs in the state of Maryland and not only served on the Maryland Academy of Physician Assistants board as President, Vice President and Director at Large, but also helped pass numerous pieces of Maryland legislation dealing with PAs. He served as Maryland's delegate to AAPA and later served in the AAPA on their Board of Directors. He was the first chair of the committee on International Affairs and also chaired the External Affairs committee. He has also served as a consultant on the PA profession in Great Britain, Taiwan, South Africa, the Netherlands, Canada, and Nigeria. |
