This collection contains the papers of Dana Robert Gray. Dana Robert Gray is a graduate of the PA Program at Case Western Reserve University and was introduced to the PA concept during his service as a Medical Corpsman in the Army. He practiced cardiovascular surgery for over 30 years and was one of the early pioneers in endoscopic vein harvesting. He has worked also in trauma. He has taken on numerous leadership roles within the profession.
Types of materials include correspondence, policy manuals, guidelines, committee materials, minutes, subject files, reports, reprints and newsletters. Major subjects include American Academy of Physician Assistants, AAPA Constituent Chapter Officers Workshops, AAPA House of Delegates Policy Manuals, Association of Physician Assistant Programs, PA legislation and legal affairs. Materials range in date from 1974 to 2007.
Dana Robert Gray is a graduate of the PA Program at Case Western Reserve University was introduced to the PA concept during his service as a Medical Corpsman in the Army. He practiced cardiovascular surgery for over 30 years and was one of the early pioneers in endoscopic vein harvesting. He has worked also in trauma and managed patients throughout their hospitalization. Dana's many PA leadership positions include President of the Association of Physician Assistants in Cardiovascular Surgery, President of the Oregon Academy of Physician Assistants, member of the Oregon State Medical Board and Chair of the Oregon Board's PA Committee for 20 years. He along with his physician partner, Jonathan Hill, MD, received the American Academy of Physician Assistants' Physician-PA Partnership Award at the organization's 38th Annual Physician Assistant Conference in Atlanta in 2010. They practice together in Portland, OR.
