Perspective on Physician Assistant Education |
Summary |
The development of a new health care profession within a country offers many challenging opportunities. For the last three years the development of the physician assistant (PA) profession in the Netherlands has been an ongoing vision of the University of Arnhem-Nijmegen. Methods: A variety of qualitative and quantitative methods were used to gather the data and develop the model that was used for the PA educational program and the PA profession in the Netherlands. Qualitative methods included internal and external regional data gathering involving focus groups that occurred at University medical centers; local, regional, and national physician conferences; and small-group meetings with regulators and health care administrators. |
